Kaiser Chiefs have labelled Blur's decision to reunite as "brilliant". The Leeds group have long singled out the band as a huge influence. Speaking to Newsbeat Kaiser Chiefs' Nick Hodgson said: "It's brilliant - I'm very pleased - normally I hate reunions - this doesn't feel like a reunion."Earlier this week Blur announced the original line up will play for the first time in eight years next year at London's Hyde Park

DURAN DURAN'S KAISER HOPE

DURAN DURAN'S KAISER HOPE

Duran Duran enjoyed collaborating with Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson on several songs for their forthcoming new album.

Duran Duran expect big things from their Kaiser Chiefs collaboration.

Kaiser Chiefs are currently in the studio with producer Mark Ronson and are delighted with their recent writing session with the I Predict A Riot hitmakers' drummer Nick Hodgson.

"We did half a day's writing with Nick from the Kaiser chiefs, which was fun. He's a friend of Mark's and he thought we'd be able to do something different with him, Keyboardist Nick Rhodes said

"We got some really good things from it actually, it's not finished yet but they'll definitely make the album."

The 'Rio' star also revealed they have to keep an eye on Mark around the musical equipment in the studio.

Duran Duran play Edinburgh Castle on July 16 and the Lovebox Weekender in London, which takes place between July 18-19.

Kaiser Chiefs v Arctic Monkeys

Kaiser Chief drummer Nick Hodgson tells XFM that they are “going to record (new songs) and then put them out” separately because “albums are a bit boring at the moment,” but they will “consider that later”, he then goes to say, “I really think it’s our best song ever, but I’m not going to tell you what it’s called. I’m really eager about the new ones because everybody who’s heard them, basically in our team, are going on about them and saying they’re the best ones we’ve ever done… which is good.”
Hmm, albums are boring? I beg to differ. Maybe he meant Kaiser Chief albums are boring… lazy hooks and shallow piece of music don’t really float my boat. They will never match the Arctic Monkeys’ or Blur’s accuracy and watching story telling border. Even still, is a total, rational album too much to ask for?

About Kaiser Chiefs

A Leeds Formed Kaiser Chiefs are an alternative rock band in early 2003. The group composed of Ricky Wilson (vocals), Andrew White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass), Nick “Peanut” Baines (keyboards) and Nick Hodgson (drums). The group has launched three albums as of 2005 and have launched 11 singles, as well as the hits “I Predict a Riot”, “Oh My God”, “Ruby” and “Never Miss a Beat”.

The band’s main musical power include The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Blur, The Clash, Eric Burdon, The Jam, and other new wave bands. The motivation for their unusual name came from soccer player Lucas Radebe, who before joining Leeds United played for the leading South African team Kaizer Chiefs. Andrew White (b. England; guitar), Ricky Wilson (b. Charles Richard Wilson, 17 January 1975, Keighley, West Yorkshire, England; vocals), Nick Baines (keyboards), Nick Hodgson (b. Nicholas Hodgson, 20 October 1977, England; drums) and Simon Rix (b. James Simon Rix, 18 October 1977, England; bass) formed the band in early 2003, having originally played garage rock under the Parva moniker. Their lively brand of post-millennial guitar rock, which would have been labelled “indie” in previous decades, rapidly found favour on the local show circuit.
