Kaiser Chiefs' Andrew White for world's longest scooter rally sing up

Kaiser Chiefs Andrew "Whitey" White for the world's longest scooter rally has signed up to take part in a world record attempt. The star is set to ride the length of Hull's Humber Bridge on August 14 with hundreds of other participants from the Yorkshire Scooter Alliance, which he is a member of. If more than 548 riders take part then they will break the world record. Jake Parker, a spokesperson for Grimsby And Cleethorpes Scooter Scene, who organised the event, said: "To have Andrew White riding his scooter over the Humber Bridge and camping here will be amazing. We were absolutely stunned when we found out he was coming. I am a bit fan for Kaiser Chiefs"

Charity date for 'resting' Leeds band, Kaiser Chiefs

Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs have announced a return to the live arena, weeks after saying they were taking a break.
They were confirmed on the bill for the Concert for Care event at London's Brixton Academy on November 2.Poverty charity Care has also landed Take That star Gary Barlow and Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle.The Kaisers revealed plans for last month for some time off after five years of touring but denied rumours they were on the verge of splitting up.The band's Good Days Bad Days single failed to make the UK top 100 last year.

For CARE London gig Kaiser Chiefs added to Concert

For CARE London Kaiser Chiefs have been added to the line up for the forthcoming Concert For benefit gig, set to take place at the O2 Academy Brixton on November 2.Take That's Gary Barlow and Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle are among the musicians joining the Leeds band at the event. The show, curated by David Arnold, will also feature performances from comedians Rob Brydon, Jimmy Carr, Dara O'Briain and David Walliams. CIN concert Malvern FC to hold

MALVERN Town Football Club will be hosting a concert for the BBC's Children In Need 2009 Appeal on Friday October 30.
Starting at 8pm, the concert will be featuring pianist Daniel Round and The Come Together Band a Worcester based band who cover the hits of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Status Quo and modern bands such as Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, Blink 182 and Snow Patrol.
Admission to the concert is £5 on the night.

Spoof indie Kaiser Brand

COMIC Katy Brand has some new unsuspecting victims to rip it out of the Kaiser Chiefs.
The indie band join previous prey Little Boots and The Saturday in her ITV2 spoof Katie Brand's Kick Ass Gig tonight.
Katie dresses up in a tie and dodgy suit and dons a cropped wig to play the chart toppers.

But the lyrics for Katie's send up involve the lads ending up on the dole and being dropped by their record company.
She even dons a skeleton costume and prances around like the rockers in their hit Every Day I Love You Less and Less.

Wild Beasts, on tour, Pop preview

A band can search in vain for an original voice; Wild Beasts, miraculously, have two. For a start, there's the bizarre falsetto of lead singer, Hayden Thorpe. Then, there's the absolutely unique tone of the band itself: in the tradition of faintly foppish northern indie rock that includes Pulp, and even the Kaiser Chiefs, but somehow far more eccentric and delicious than either. So far it's been heard by a fairly limited number of people, but the band's new album Two Dancers deserves much better. As with British Sea Power, this band can bring out the latent nostalgist but Wild Beasts are surging, bizarrely, forward.

Nick coos about pooch Betty

KAISER CHIEFS star NICK HODGSON couldn't stop coo'ing about his new pooch BETTY at Dame Shirley Bassey's album launch at the Ritz on Monday night.
Nick said Michael Crawford's Some Mothers Do 'Av 'Em was the inhalation behind the name choice.
He said: "Michael Crawford is brilliant. Ooh Betty. I've been re-looking it.
"Betty is excellent and will keep me company as the band take a bit of a breather. I'm content."
Nick also said the band are a fan of the Biz Sessions and hope to pop by and record one soon. .
He added: "I've seen them and they are great.
"We look forward to coming in once we've got some new material under our belts."

POMPEY CALL ON FIFA OVER BHASERA

Portsmouth have asked FIFA to look into the transfer of Kaiser Chiefs defender Onismor Bhasera.
Pompey thought they had signed the 22-year-old on a free after a work permit was granted on appeal, however doubt has since surrounded the deal after Chiefs declared the player still had 12 months to run on his contract.
Portsmouth are reluctant to pay a fee for a player they thought would cost them nothing, leaving Bhasera in limbo.
The South Coast club are still keen to bring in the left-back and have confirmed FIFA are looking into the situation.
"The situation is that Onismor believes he is a free agent and Kaiser Chiefs say he isn't, so we have asked FIFA to look into it to enable us to progress with the move," a Portsmouth spokesman told the club's official website.
"We have successfully appealed a work permit and want the player to sign for Pompey but he can only do so once we know the true nature of his registration."
Bhasera's manager at Kaiser Chiefs, Bobby Motaung, believes the only reason the deal has not gone through already is because the Premier League side are struggling financially.
"Portsmouth have financial problems, I have a letter from them and they say they owe Chelsea, they owe this one, it is their problem not our problem, he told KickOff.com.
"They can't afford to pay us small change, we said it is compensation, not a transfer fee. We even said to them we will give you six months grace period to keep the player and pay us in January."
However the Pompey spokesman venomously denied that the hold-up in the transfer was because of the club's lack of funds.
"This has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with finance and to suggest such is misguided and inaccurate," he pointed out.

Kaiser Chiefs aren't rending, we're just taking a break

KAISER CHIEFS have denied rumours they are rending up and claim they are just planning a long holiday.
Frontman Ricky Wilson discharged speculation that their performances at last weekend's Reading and Leeds festivals would be their last.
Instead, Ricky says the band's diary is empty because they all want a rest.
Ricky said: "It's our last show for the foreseeable future, so it's a bit of an abyss.
"If it was our last one ever, we wouldn't be having a good time, would we?
"I don't think bands split up when they're still friends and having a best time with each other.
"We just haven't booked anything. If people look at your diary and look you haven't got anything lined up, they think you're stopping.
"We've been on tour for five years and need to pass some of our money on air travel.
"We don't want to convey out an album before Christmas, we don't want to bring out an album after Christmas. We don't want to go into the studio, there are no more gigs."

Kaiser Chiefs show at the Villa

THE Kaiser Chiefs put in an A* performance at the Villa Marina last night.
Singer Ricky Wilson worked the consultation by darting across the stage as often as possible and supporting everyone to singalong. Any budding frontmen watching would certainly have learned a lot from Wilson who could command a sea of hands in the air within a split second. With a catalogue of up tempo urban anthems, the band raked through some of their best known songs with gusto. Just a handful of numbers in, Ruby had those in the circle on their feet where many stayed for much of the show. The likes of Everyday I Love You Less and Less, Modern Way and The Angry Mob enthralled the crowd while I Predict A Riot and Oh My God had the audience singing, clapping and jumping up and down in frantic exhilaration. But it was Ricky himself who had the most energy enough to make the Duracell bunny jealous. The thirstily anticipated performance was easily one of the most memorable I have ever seen at the Villa and it was just under 90 minutes of pure delectation.When the gig was announced by organiser Lenny Conroy of Triskel Promotions earlier this year, there was huge demand for tickets.And I incertitude anyone who arranged to get their hands on any went away disappointed after last night's show.

Kaiser Chiefs for Green Day's pranks

Green Day marked the departure of the Kaiser Chiefs from their on going US tour by playing a course of pranks on the British rockers including hiring a brass band to attack the stage during their set.
The 'American Idiot' hitmakers are the moment midway through a massive global hike and they were joined by the Kaiser Chiefs, who opened for them at a string of dates on the other side the US.
The bands played their last performance together on Saturday in New Orleans, Louisiana but the rock trio didn't let their stagemates escape their habit of playing jokes on their support acts.
Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson explains: "Every time when they have support bands, the final night they description of prank the band. We got off actually lightly I think. If you look at YouTube, there's some support bands that have had bad things happen to them, but (Green Day) arranged a Louisiana/New Orleans old time brass band and they got them into the arena.
"When we started (hit track) I Predict a Riot, this band came on and then Green Day came on, and they were playing cowbells. It was a surpriced. I just amazement whether the people of New Orleans think that's our regular type of performance."
And Hodgson accept that wasn't the only performances they were subjected to - their rock pals also covered all their instruments in toilet roll.
He adds, "Toilet Paper. They T.P.'d (toilet paper-ed) us. (They covered our) drums, instruments. It was live on stage."
