At club's karaoke night, Kaiser Chiefs singer takes to the stage

In front HE is used to performing of tens of thousands of adoring fans.

But Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson took to the stage of an Edinburgh nightclub in front of a slightly more subdued audience – with most of them not having a clue who he was. The singer joined in at a live band karaoke night at the city's Electric Circus venue on Market Street, but instead of drawing attention to himself, he filled in a request slip under the pseudonym Brett Sinclair.Even when he took to the stage for his first tune – Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon – his presence went relatively unnoticed amongst customers, who thought he was just another karaoke-lover.The venue's live band, The Bearded Ladies, however, knew exactly who he was and when the singer went up to sing a second number – Mustang Sally – they then followed it by asking him to perform one of the Kaiser Chief's biggest hits, I Predict A Riot.Staff – who knew who the mysterious performer was – said customers gradually started to put down their drinks and gather round the stage after hearing the frontman's "version" of the Kaiser Chiefs' classic, and slowly but surely they discovered who he actually was.Manager Emma Tolmie, 27, said: "When he started singing it, everyone kind of turned around, thinking that whoever this was, he was really good."At first people were thinking he was a Ricky Wilson look-alike. It was funny to see everyone's faces when it finally dawned on them who he was, especially the women. He was loving it, and at one point jumped up on the bar to pour himself a pint."The singer is understood to have been visiting friends in Edinburgh, and the group went for a night out in the city last Friday, along with Wilson's girlfriend. After the live band karaoke finished, the singer and his friends hired a private karaoke booth to continue the party and Wilson was heard singing more Sinatra songs – as well as a Take That medley.Waitress Lucy Simpson, 20, served cocktails to Wilson and his friends during their three-hour stint in the private karaoke booth – but even she had no clue who he was when he first arrived. She said: "I had absolutely no idea who it was at first. "He was just sitting in a corner chatting away like any normal customer. "Then he got up on stage and sang with the band."It was Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra and I remember it sounded good, but I didn't know who he was until one of the bar staff told me."Luckily he went into the karaoke room that I was waiting on that night."We had a bit of banter and he was very friendly and really down to earth."I went in a couple of times and caught him singing Take That, which was absolutely fantastic, and there was lots of chucking the microphone about. He absolutely loved it and had a fantastic time."

Kaiser Chiefs the Cribs release cover for charity

The Cribs have made their cover of Kaiser Chiefs' 'Modern Way' available as a download, with the proceeds set to go to charity. The song was recorded in 2005 and released as a B-side to the Wakefield band's single 'Mirror Kissers' (before Johnny Marr joined the band). The song is available from iTunes now, with money raised through sales going to the Cash For Kids Action On Neglect Appeal. The charity aids neglected children in the Leeds and West Yorkshire area – where the Jarman brothers hail from.The Cribs are set to release a new single, 'We Share The Same Skies', on November 9.

The Cribs have announced that proceeds from their currently released cover of Kaiser Chiefs' Modern Way' will go to charity.
In 2005 the track was originally recorded and released as a B side to the Wakefield band's single 'Mirror Kissers'. Money raised from the song, available on iTunes now, will go to the Cash For Kids Action On Neglect Appeal.
The organisation supports neglected children in Leeds and West Yorkshire, near to where the group formed.
The Cribs are also due to release a new single from latest album Ignore The Ignorant. 'We Share The Same Skies' is out on November 9.

Yorkshire lads The Cribs are set to aid charity with the release of a new cover Kaiser Chiefs .
Although they both hail from Yorkshire, there is little in common between Kaiser Chiefs and The Cribs. Sure, the Leeds pair may have begun life on a tiny indie but they quickly swapped that for novelty singalong hits.
The Cribs, meanwhile, have clung on to their integrity. Slowly building a devoted fan base with a series of celebrated releases and lengthy tours, the band were recently given the chance of working with one of their heroes.
Johnny Marr's work with The Smiths wants no introduction, and the Manchester musician's guitar playing adorns The Cribs new album. 'Ignore The Ignorant' is another giant leap for ward for the group, smashing its way into the Top Ten.
UK tour Spawning a lengthy our, The Cribs are now set to surprise fans with a particular cover. The Wakefield group are set to honour a worthy local cause by donating all proceeds from the new download to charity.

Kaiser Chiefs to the Hail

The Kaiser Chiefs want to show they care. The British rockers have officially joined Damien Rice, Gary Barlow, Rob Brydon and several other music and comedy acts as performers at the Concert For CARE benefit on Nov. 2. The event, taking place at London's Brixton Academy, will raise money for CARE International, which works with 55 million people in 70 countries each year to help raise people out of poverty.
A famous film and television composer to David Arnold, is the man behind the concert event. He said, "I have wanted to do this concert from the day I met a 20 year old woman in Rwanda who was orphaned at 14, is HIV positive and has to look after her two younger brothers. Without CAR

The Chiefs, who scored US hits with "Ruby" and "I Predict a Riot," are huge in the UK and will be an incredible draw for the event. The band's last album, Off with Their Heads, debuted on the UK charts last October at No. 2.

Charity date for 'resting' Leeds band, Kaiser Chiefs

Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs have announced a return to the live arena, weeks after saying they were taking a break.
They were confirmed on the bill for the Concert for Care event at London's Brixton Academy on November 2.Poverty charity Care has also landed Take That star Gary Barlow and Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle.The Kaisers revealed plans for last month for some time off after five years of touring but denied rumours they were on the verge of splitting up.The band's Good Days Bad Days single failed to make the UK top 100 last year.
